According to Sony figures, their latest next-gen console sold through a million units in the US of A in 24 hours, which means that someone is partying pretty damn hard in that company.
“PS4 was designed with an unwavering commitment to gamers, and we are thrilled that consumer reaction has been so phenomenal,” said Andrew House, president and group CEO, Sony Computer Entertainment via VG247.
Sales remain very strong in North America, and we expect continued enthusiasm as we launch the PlayStation 4 in Europe and Latin America on November 29. We are extremely grateful for the passion of PlayStation fans and thank them for their continued support.

That’s quite a sales feat when compared to the PlayStation 3 which sold under 400 000 units back in 2007 in one day, and 81 639 in Japan.
Despite a few isolated incidents of HDMI slots gone awry and some consoles bricking themselves, it’s been a relatively smooth launch as well. The console hits Europe next week November 29, and it’ll finally be available locally on December 13. Which means that those issues will most likely be sorted by then.
