BloodRayne: Betrayal debut trailer gets me excited

1 min read

Last month we told you about WayForward’s resurrection of the BloodRayne franchise, cautiously optimistic about the return of the pointy-toothed, twin-bladed, red headed vampire-slaying Dhampir. Today, thanks to its debut game play trailer, we’re ready to drop the caution and replace the optimism with giddy excitement – because it looks bloody mental!

It comes across as an unholy union of Shank, The Dishwasher and the Metroid-inspired Castlevania games. WayForward, primarily a developer for handhelds,  has an unnatural ability to make the most of 2D – as they demonstrated with Contra 4. This looks to continue that tradition. Hit the jump to see far too much comic-book styled blood all over your screen. Awesome.

Editor. I'm old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time - they were capable of being masterpieces. I'm here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
