Nature. So precious, so intricate in its design and absolutely vital to the delicate ecosystem of any planet. Unless you’re on Pandora that is, because the food chain pretty much starts and ends with a bullet on that horrible horrible planet. Even Sir David Attenborough would be hard-pressed to find some merit in the creatures that inhabit that sphere of alien vaults, as the fauna present happen to have a certain taste for spontaneous limb removal and playing hop scotch in a chest cavity.
Look, all I’m saying is that in the circle of life, nature favours the fella with the best and biggest gun. Especially when nature throws acid-vomiting Skags, pesky Rakks and Threshers which want to rip your arms straight out of their sockets. Creatures which you can get a glimpse of in the first of several Borderlands 3 videos which feature Claptrap and Steve (HEYOH!) documenting what players can expect to run into when the sequel lands later this year.
And because I’m such a swell fella, here’s a quick breakdown on just some of the lovely creatures that’ll leave your face looking like you’ve just lost a headbutting match with a belt sander:
Skaggs

Skags are large, dog-like creatures, easily identified by their strong bony armor plates, aggressive behaviour, and distinctive three-jawed mouths.
Rakk

Rakk are flying creatures native to Pandora. They do not have beaks. Instead, they have a flat, fleshy head ending with a pointed snout, with a brightly coloured, bony plate on the top, and hooked, rasping barbs lining a soft, slit-like mouth on the bottom. Rakk do not have grasping claws or lower limbs, and instead have a set of curved, razor-sharp talons upon a flexible tail that they use to adhere to rocky surfaces.
Threshers
Threshers are stubborn, tentacled creatures that come in many different sizes and colours. Threshers tend to live in soft ground, especially along ocean shores or river beds.
Spiderants

Spiderants are viciously territorial creatures that bear a passing resemblance to insects. The most striking features of these creatures are their elongated heads, four limbs, and abdomens. Their heads are thickly armoured as are their strong, dangerously sharp forelimbs. The abdomen, however, is unarmoured and is the creature’s weakest point.
Borderlands 3 arrives in September for PC, PS4 and Xbox One. Can Steve avoid killing everything in front of him before this documentary series wraps up? Probably not. HEYOH!
