For better or worse, EA’s “Project 10 Dollar†– a system where purchasers of brand new games from EA are rewarded with either extra content or rudimentary features like multiplayer – is here to stay.
BioWare’s fantasy role-playing sequel Dragon Age 2’s implementation of Project 10 Dollar will be similar to Mass Effect 2’s Cerberus Network.
"We will be doing that," executive producer Mark Darrah said to Joystiq. "We haven’t announced what’s in it, but it’ll definitely be something kind of in that Cerberus vein where there will be additional content."
Darrah also assured gamers that the sequels DLC will be better than that of the first game, which barring Awakenings, was a largely hit-or-miss affair.
"What we’re doing with the DLC in Dragon Age 2 is making it larger; so it’ll be bigger teams, more unique environments, more unique creatures – so that it gets the attention it deserves to get."
From everything we’ve seen of the game so far, it looks like a winner. The game will have much more focused, tighter narrative than the original. If you haven’t played Origins a new complete version, featuring all of the game’s DLC has just been released – and comes highly recommended.
As a bonus, here’s the game’s latest trailer – which features some actual in-game action. Awesome. March 8th can’t come quickly enough. I can – but apparently there’s a cream and some exercises for that.
