There’s a simple gameplay loop to Monster Hunter World. Face off against monsters, defeat them and then use their remains to craft more potent weapons and armour with which to defeat even bigger and bastardier behemoths that roam the land. To get the right gear for the job however, you’re going to need to to be savvy with what you pull from the wilds.

Here’s a list of some of the more valuable materials that you’ll need to craft the best armour and weapons in the game. I’ll add to it as the week goes on, because there’s a lot to get through here.

Where to find world coral bones

Once you’ve unlocked the third map, you can travel to the Coral Highlands and scavenge through bonepiles in sectors 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 9 and 13. Pray to RNGesus, wait for the loot to reset and you should be swimming in bones in no time.

Where to find coral crystals

In the Coral Highlands, you can find Coral crystals in mining outcrops in sectors 10 and 11.

Where to find frost sacs

In the Coral Highlands, hunt Legiana and harvest a Frsot Sac from its corpse once you’ve defeated it. Weak to thunder, fire and poison, be sure to pack plenty of those materials in your gear for the tough battle ahead.

Where to find poison sacs

In the Ancient Forest, you can hunt down Pukei-Pukei birds for their poison sacs. Use a combination of sleep, thunder and paralysis to bring them down to earth and harvest the poison sac from them.

Where to find electro sacs

In the Ancient Forest, start hunting for Tobi-Kadachi. Hanging around the jungle, your best bet is to bring them down with water and poison-damage weapons, eventually ending in them handing over another sac to you.

Where to find aqua sacs

In the Wildspire Waste, hunt for Jyuratodus wyverns. You can find them swimming about, covered in mud so get ready to roll out some thunder weapons. Stun the bastards, strike hard and hopefully they’ll drop their sac at the end of the battle.

Where to find flame sacs

In the Ancient Forest, hunt for Rathalos and be wary of its poison claws and ability to roast you with its bad breath. Rathians also carry a Flame sac depending on the mood of RNGesus, so keep an eye open in the Ancient Forest for them as well.

Where to find sleep sacs

In the Rotten Vale, hunt for Radobaan. The beast happens to be susceptible to dragon-based damage and blast atacks, so keep up the pressure and rip the Sleep sac out of it once it has been vanquished.

Where to find boulder bones

In the Wildspire Waste, you can find Boulder Bones in bone piles in sectors 8, 9, 10 and 11. This might require a few trips back and forth, but the piles will eventually yield the Boulder bone after you’ve done some digging and allowed them to reset with new resources.

Where to find fertile mud

In the Wildspire Wastes, you’ll need to hunt a Barroth. Barroths are covered in fertile mud, which can be scraped off with water-damage weapons. Alternatively, merely stalking a Barroth will see it regularly drop clumps of the stuff, which you can pick up without needing to kill it.

Where to find Earth crystals

In the Coral Highlands, you can easily mine for the homeopathic cure-alls in mining outcrop nodes that can be found in sectors 5, 6, 8, 13 and 14.

Where to find Dragonite ore

In the Coral Highlands, you’ll find mining nodes that are particularly rich in Dragonite Ore in sectors 8 and 11.

Where to find Warm pelt

If you’re looking to make some clothes, head on over to the Windspire Wastes and the Coral Highlands to hunt down some Kelbi. They travel in herds, resemble antelopes and they’re easy enough to kill thanks to their pacifist nature. In addition to sometimes dropping a warm pelt, you can also harvest raw meat and white livers from them.

Where to find Ancient bones

In the Ancient Forest, check bone piles for the hard to find material. Sector 4 has two piles, while sectors 2, 7, 8, 11, 16 and 17 has one pile each.
