Gears of War Action Figures – First hand

So I finally got my grubby paws on 2 of the Gears of War action figures this last weekend. (Thanks Dev)

They should be going for around R170 a pop but my friend Dev found one of the stands at last weekends ICON convention selling them on special at R150 and you get one free! I wonder what he was smoking, but I won’t complain considering a stand about 3 metres from him was selling them at the normal price. So how do they look when they aren’t in marketing pics?

I have them in front of me finally and I can officially say that they look pretty awesome in the err, flesh. Marcus’s head still seems slightly large, but the detail on the armour, weapons and the locusts skin is really great.

I would have taken some better pics, but my camera’s battery died and I had to resort to using me Macbook’s built in webcam. Here’s a pic of my two beauties:

The pic doesn’t really do them much justice, but I am really happy with them and can’t wait to open them up so I can lie on the floor, holding one in each hand, bashing them together while I make sound effects with my mouth.

Not bad then! I just really can’t wait to get my hands on one of those headshot locusts when they come out. Oh yeah.

Honestly i wasnt that impressed, they are reasonable quality, the joints are not that stiff and some ive seen the paint is stuffed, they are on par witha good kids toy but not even close too mcfarlain and the likes.

You know what, you are right in many ways. As much as I do like them, they are nowhere near the quality of my spawn figurines, but not bad anyway. Maybe its because I got them so cheap that Im happy with my value for money.

I really wish that for the next series they will make them really big, chunky and heavy.
