Ghost Recon: Future Soldier delayed until 2012

It was at E3 last year June that I first saw Ghost Recon: Future Soldier, I remember seeing the demo and then coming out to an overly excited Ubisoft employee who wanted to know if I thought it was as awesome as they did.

I said at the time that I was really unsure about the game as it seemed to be more like a Metal Gear Solid title than a Ghost Recon and I wasn’t sure the SciFi aspect was a nice move for it.

Well needless to say they weren’t impressed and we haven’t been invited to see another preview since.

And now Ubisoft has announced in an investors call that Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Future Soldier has been delayed until Q4 of it’s FY12 which in English means it won’t be out until the first 3 months of next year.

The only reason given for the delay was that they wanted to move it out of the crowded holiday season but it doesn’t fill me with hope and I have a feeling my initial impressions are still correct.

Ghost Recon is an awesome series as it puts you into the shoes of some of the most advanced army soldiers of our generation, but I don’t want to move into the future I want it to be gritty and realistic and I think Ubisoft may be making a mistake with this one.
