GTA 4: Xbox 360 vs. PS3 – 1:1

Run Nico

So I posted the other day about the IGN comparison between GTA IV on the PS3 and on the Xbox 360… Where the PS3 won out because of extra pop-in on the 360.

Well Videogamer.com has put together a very lengthy comparison and this time the 360 comes out tops.

While they agree with the extra pop-in on the 360 they feel the graphics are still superior on the 360 and the ability to add customised sound tracks on the 360 also gives it the edge.

So 1-1 it is and now to find the next comparison (from a neutral site)

I think what this really shows is that neither game has a definitive lead over the other and we really are being picky choosing which one is better. You will be happy on both.

I hate a display settings on my PS3to get it to look great, the default settings ( in game settings) looked crap.It could be my moniter as I have a 1.2M plasma HD and I know that the big screen and plasma does take some settings to look perfect…

I think M$ may have contributed to this article 😛

“Personally the Xbox 360 pad has a slight edge when using manual aiming and the triggers feel better for driving, but this is just a personal preference.”

Having a personal preference does not make something better. I “personally” hate the 360 controller but that does not make the PS3 better.

1up, Kotaku and Eurogamer have also all given the PS3 version as slight edge, so it’s more like 4 (or more) to 1. 🙂 Interestingly, this is despite the fact that the PS3 version is only running at 640p while the 360 version is running at 720p.

But people are spending far too much time nitpicking over this. Rockstar have a done great job, and people should be choosing the version according to how much they care about DLC and what platforms their friends are on.

Another article also said the PS3 version ISN’T running at 640p.

So I think I will be ignoring the comparisons.

I dont care wether it runs on 640p, 720p or 1080p , as long as it looks good what difference does it make?
But i guess fanboys get some kind of kick out of nitpicking about little details like these.
Most websites are saying that the ps3 version looks better even though its not running on 720p like the 360’s version so that should prove that arguing about little details like these are pointless.

Unfortunately Jinja, the guy that’s calling 630p on the PS3 version know’s what he’s talking about, he’s the “go to guy” on the subject.

What it does show though is that the “p”s debate is wasted breathe.

Truth is Rockstar suck from a technical perspective on all platforms, but, in contrast, their games rock equally everywhere 😉

I find texture pop much more objectionable to the odd jaggie. Gotta see both for myself to make up my mind, but even then, it’s a moot point. Just enjoy the game.
