No no they’re not getting sued or anything like that. Actually the hit game may soon be a REALITY TV SHOW and possibly even an actual in-the-flesh CONCERT TOUR!?!?
…. It’s okay, you go right ahead and get that confused, what’s-going-on-here-look off your face – it took me a while too. But its all true as apparently Activision Blizzard are looking to spill a can of that mutant ooze (the stuff that made the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles) all over some of their game titles and turn them into movies or TV programs. The fact that Guitar Hero is one of them makes me think someone may have shook the can a little too much before attempting to spill.
Although what got my attention was that their are also discussions surrounding the film adaptations of World of Warcraft and Call of Duty (not sure which one though). As you may remember, a few years back Hollywood went on a crazy binge, buying rights to just about every piece of creative brain-fart in hopes to one day make a movie on it and turn a profit… the result was that Legendary Pictures (Dark Night; 300) ended up with the film rights to Warcraft.
You may remember Dieter’s article about them also tapping into the gaming market. Either way you skin it though after 3 years, they haven’t seemed to do a thing about it.
