Halo 3 knocked out of top spot

New Xbox Live Activity figures from Major Nelson reveal that Treyarch’s Call of Duty : World at War is currently the most played game on Live, knocking perennial leader Halo 3 in to second place. This may have something to with the Nazi Zombie minigame being untethered, and the recent Double XP weekend. Or it may be because Halo 3 is a load of boring, overhyped rubbish. Whatever the cause, it’s sure to make Treyarch’s Activision overlords happy. Call of Duty 4 comes in at third place beating out Gears of War 2, and the ridiculously fun zombie armageddon gore-fest Left 4 Dead.

On the arcade front Bohemoth’s Castle Crashers takes top spot, with those feisty annelids bazookering their way in to second. Super Mega Jolly Street Fighter II Turbo Sea-Urchin Ham Sandwich Deluxe Ultra Party HD Megamix – probably the one game  on the whole list that I’ve played most – came third. Like Sony.

Full list after the jump.

I refuse to believe that GH WT is the 9th most played game. Ive been there a couple of times and the matchmaking is horrible, it searches for ever and never finds ANYTHING!

Ive allready orderd Rockband 2 hearing that thats much better (Online wise))

Remember that list is for people playing games, while logged into live.

Not actually playing it online, per se.

maybe more GHWT sales than rockband?
