Heroes of the Storm

Heroes of the Storm, despite being easily accessible by the typical casual gamer, is surprisingly complex. Many naysayers, myself included, initially wrote the MOBA off as “good clean fun”, but never could wrap our heads around it being a truly competitive game, and one that requires actual skill to excel at.

Well, what do we know? Turns out the MOBA is pretty damn complex underneath that colourful exterior. This is Blizzard we are talking about after all, so of course, Heroes of the Storm follows their typical mantra of easy to play, but difficult to master. Anybody can pick up the game within minutes, but it’ll take them many, many hours, and lots of hard work to be really great at it.

What do they do once they’ve mastered the MOBA anyway? Why, go off and play it competitively of course, starting with the Heroes of the Storm Summer season, which Blizzard have just detailed over on the game’s official blog.

With the Heroes of the Storm Spring Championship just days away, we’re excited to announce details for the Summer season, during which more than $1.2 million USD is on the line!

Hundreds of teams from around the globe will battle their way through their respective regional competitions, hoping to earn one of 12 spots in the Heroes of the Storm Summer Global Championship. The Summer season will culminate at DreamHack Summer in Jönköping, Sweden, where qualifying teams will compete for a share of the $500,000 USD prize pool.
