One of the best ideas Sony implemented in the PS3 is the ability for people to manually upgrade their HDD’s and not have to pay exorbitant prices for a proprietary drive… I’m looking at you Microsoft.
However it seems that great feature has now been snatched away from us and replaced with the ever so friendly error message of
8002f2c5
It doesn’t look like this was an intentional change by Sony however and while they haven’t made any official announcement on the problem yet I would expect that Firmware 3.57 will reinstate this once awesome ability.
However until that time don’t try and upgrade your HDD else you may just lose everything which some people are reporting has happened to them.
This issue also only affects certain models, the ones with 16Mb flash memory which includes all the PS3 Slims.
Bad Sony…
