Modder creates Counter-Strike 1.6 in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive

1 min read

When Counter-Strike: Global Offensive was released in 2012 many professional players stuck to 1.6 awaiting the necessary changes to the newly released title. The feel and look of 1.6 was smoother, the hit register was far better and some old school players till complain to this day that 1.6 was perhaps the best version of Counter-Strike.

CS:GO has come a long way since then and the game has significantly improved to match the playstyle and feel, but the minimalistic look of 1.6 is something a lot of players hold on to, and now they can relive it with a newly created mod in CS:GO.

The mod is called Counter-Strike: Classic Offensive and aims to bring the aspects of CS 1.6 into Global Offensive. Creator ZooL gave his very own description of the new map:

“The goal of my mod is to bring back the 1.6 feeling of Counter-Strike, that means: weapons, sounds, stats, physics, etc… some stuff such buying ammo or even choosing your player model won’t be possible without plugins but I plan to make the mod without them, even if they’re really useful… servers could still use them though.”

Classic Offensive has everything you need from skins, maps, and more. The trailer, created by ZooL, shows the glory of 1.6 in all its splendor.

You can hear the old sounds, see the old player models, including some of the old guns like the MP5. The game will be available on Christmas Day, December 25th, a great present for the CS lovers out there. Relive 1.6 in CS:GO, it truly was the best CS game, ever.
