It’s no secret that this year’s Call of Duty is going to be called Ghosts and that we are going to be seeing yet another title in the series next year. As usual Activision is keeping quiet about that right now but it looks like someone has some loose lips on LinkedIn and has let the cat out of the bag.
According to a bio for Rob Valdivia the next title in the series is going to be the sequel to Modern Warfare 3 and will feature ‘photo real visual effects’. According to his profile, which is now deleted, he is currently working at SledgeHammer games on Modern Warfare 4.
According to his blog Rob has worked on PlayStation All Stars, Resistance, Bloom Blox and the Pirates of the Caribbean movie. So he has a pedigree of solid titles behind him and it wouldn’t be the least bit surprising to see someone of this calibre working on a Call of Duty title now. Unfortunately that’s all we know but I for one hope the Photo Real visuals means that Modern Warfare 4 is going to be a generational leap in graphics from the current titles in the series.
The thing that makes it interesting is that after Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty this year in Ghosts, it would be expected that Treyarch would e making the next one. If Sledgehammer, who helped make Modern Warfare 3 after the internal collapse of Infinity Ward is behind next year’s Call of Duty, that could mean Treyarch has two years to make a real next-generation Call of Duty, or that perhaps (and this is really unlikely) they’re working on a whole new IP.
