Not content to just reinvigorate PC gaming with one of the best free titles in recent years, Minecraft, Markus “Notch” Perrson has been hard at work on his next game, which goes by the handle of, get ready for it, this:

0x10c. So zero times ten to the power of C or something? Kinda obscure, but hey, it’s his game.

According to Notch, the game will be set in a parallel universe where the space race between America and Russia never ended, eventually gaining popularity with wealthier persons, until 1988, when a new deep sleep cell that was compatible with 16bit computers got bugged out, causing people to hibernate for a few trillion solar cycles, awakening in year 281 474 976 712 644.

The universe is nearing it’s final breath, about to collapse due to entropy, with black holes dominating the cosmos. Apparently, players will have to use the 16bit CPU in their ships to survive, gather resources and explore the depths of space.

According to Notch, the game will also have:

  • Hard science fiction.
  • Lots of engineering.
  • Fully working computer system.
  • Space battles against the AI or other players.
  • Abandoned ships full of loot.
  • Duct tape!
  • Seamlessly landing on planets.
  • Advanced economy system.
  • Random encounters.
  • Mining, trading, and looting.
  • Single and multi player connected via the multiverse.

Sounds kind of familiar so far, but we’ll have to see what kind of a spin he puts on it, as other details are being kept under wraps. Notch has stated however, that he’ll be releasing early builds of the game, much like he did with Minecraft, in order to fine-tune the end product.

Now, I may be a complete dunce when it comes to maths, but I’d bet my bat-mug that all those various figures and numerals happen to have some sort of code hidden in their construction, just waiting for a clever kid to decipher it.

So far, all my investigations have found out , is that the numbers 80085 makes me giggle.
