Ugh. The next Call of duty to be Modern Warfare 4?

Groundhogday

I’ve maintained that beyond making the engine and the initial shift towards Modern combat, Infinity Ward lags behind the other Call of duty studio Treyarch when it comes to being inventive and not just copying their last game. If recent rumours are to be believed, that opinion will be cemented – because those rumours say the next Call of duty will be Modern Warfare 4.

In an chat with This Is Xbox, Captain Price’s voice actor Billy Murray (no, not THAT one) said that he’ll soon be off to Activision to discuss his role in the next Call of duty Game – MW4.

“Yeah, on Monday I am off to meet Infinity Ward about the next game, Modern Warfare 4, I’m doing work on the sequel to Modern Warfare 3, it carries straight on and I only ever appear in the Modern Warfare games…” he said.

I certainly hope this isn’t true – and that the next Call of Duty from the ghost of Infinity Ward actually tries something a little more interesting. Call of Duty in the old West, perhaps? The modern combat shooter is on its way out, I hear.

For their part, Infinity Ward denied the rumours, tweeting “Interesting news today, but it’s not true. We’ve not talked with any voice actors, so all news is speculation.”

Let’s hope so – because I think even the most die-hard COD fans would balk at the announcement of Modern Warfare 4.
