Unotelly reviewed – Get the digital content you want

One of the big issues with living in South Africa is the fact that we get overlooked or outright ignored by the rest of the global village. While other countries get things like Netflix, Spotify, Hulu and lightning fast internet, we are left in the dark, trying either to find port forwarding services or VPNs.
Not anymore, thankfully. A new subscription based service, called UnoTelly, takes all the effort out of spoofing, rerouting, and all those other boring things, allowing you to spend more time enjoying content than accessing content.

UnoTelly makes use of what they call UnoDNS which makes direct connections to websites and services, instead of the horrible, often temperamental VPN connections. Through your account management, you can set the region you want services to connect to, in case you saw something on the Europe side of a service instead of its US counterpart, meaning that you can make use of any part of UnoTelly’s cloud to get the services you want.

Of course, we don’t have the kind of bandwidth that other countries have. I managed to stream a movie at 240p on my 1MB line without much issue. Besides a pause near the intro, I had no problem at all. Darryn, on the other hand, couldn’t watch anything at all on his line, which he promises is 1MB and not animal powered, but that might have to do with his e-mail being flooded with pictures of topless men, or the fact that he lives in outer east Mongolia. Higher quality than that, however, was impossible to watch at all.

The best part, for me at least, was being able to use Spotify. When I was in the UK, it was all we used for our music needs, making my two weeks of musically enhanced vacation rather hard to say goodbye to. Now my house has Spotify again, which streams perfectly, even while playing games or surfing the Internet.

UnoTelly knows that not all of us want to sit by a PC to enjoy content. I have Spotify on my iPad, making typing and cooking much more pleasurable. It works on Xbox and many other devices, meaning you don’t need to be chained to your PC or even a single device.

So what would you pay to have anything from movies to UFC on any device you own? UnoTelly Premium costs USD 5 a month, with gold costing $8. From what I have seen, the gold service offers a few more channels and being able to use their service over 3G or 4G, which isn’t exactly high on my list of things to use my airtime and data bundle for.

While some of the channels are pretty barebones without paying them a subscription fee too, it might be worth your while to try UnoTelly on its free 8 day trial. http://www.unotelly.com/unodns/signup
Setup is really easy, and you can either enter in the information yourself, or download a tiny wizard that does almost everything for you.

While using the UnoDNS, it runs an anti-DNS poisoning filter, meaning you never see those horrible advert pages if you type a URL in incorrectly.

Here are the current channels supported by UnoTelly.

Change the way you get content, as well as the content too.
