Update: Halo Movie – Not Happening Soon… Sigh

1 min read

Just yesterday, I posted up the news that esteemed movie man Steven Spielberg was in talks to produce the Halo movie after its run with Peter Jackson and Neil Blomkamp had come to an end.

I was excited at the idea of a movie that may have been done properly but now Microsoft have shot down the stories going around the net with the following statement:

“We’re glad there’s still a lot of enthusiasm in the entertainment industry surrounding the idea of a Halo movie. That said, the Halo feature film remains on hold as we focus on projects like Halo 3: ODST and Halo: Reach.”

I don’t fully understand why Microsoft have to keep things on hold considering that they aren’t exactly going to be filming the movies themselves and what better way would there be to increase hype for Halo: Reach and promote it than have it release around the same time as a huge blockbuster movie, made by some of the top people in the business.

Oh well, at this rate the movie is either going to only come out in a couple of years time, or not at all.
