No really, if you’re a fan of Nintendo’s fantastic smash game, this competition is just for you. Core, distributors of all things Nintendo in South Africa, are looking for South Africa’s top player. Winning this will not only secure you bragging rights, but also a fantastic prize including a year’s supply of games! Interested? Find out more after the jump…

Where and when?

The heats will take place at selected BT Games, Toy Zone, Toys R Us and Musica stores which will determine the semi finalists.
Dates: 15th & 16th, 22nd & 23rd, 29th & 30th November and 6th of December.

 

The qualifying semi-final heats will take place at same selected BT Games, Toy Zone, Toys R Us and Musica stores that you previously won at, these will determined 30 finalists.
Dates: 7th of December

 

The 30 finalists from each selected BT Games, Toy Zone, Toys R Us and Musica stores will compete at the Grand Final (The Brightwater Commons) to be crowned the Super Smash Bros. SA National Champion 2014. (Capetown and Durban finalist will be flown up by us to Johannesburg to compete and return the same day)
Dates: Saturday the 13th December

How will the regional tournament work?

You will play a two minute round against a friend, family member, or Nintendo ambassador. This will take place in the stores mentioned above from 11am to 3pm. Here are the rules:

  • You can choose your own character
  • Battle for the best KO score within the time limit (Two Minutes)
  • No customizations
  • No handicap
  • Launch rate 1.0x
  • Stage choice Boxing Ring
  • All items will appear in battle

If you perform well enough, you will qualify for the semi-final and receive notification via email. This will then take place on the 7th of December at the same times (11am –3pm) at the store you participated previously.

If you win, you’ll attend the final event which will be hosted at The Brightwater Commons on the 13th of December from 12am – 3pm.

Prizes

You will want to put on your best performance, because there really are some awesome prizes up for grabs!

  • Ultimate Champion: Free Nintendo games for a year, Wii U Premium Pack, a copy of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. goodies
  • Runner Up: 3DS Xl Super Smash Bros branded console, A copy of Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. goodies
  • Finalist and Runner Ups: Will receive goodie bags

First prize is a no-brainer… who wouldn’t want that? I think this is a really awesome competition, so kudos to Core and Nintendo for putting it together. Will you be taking part? I know I will, my Kirby is gonna beat up ALL the things!
