Ok, now we all know that Microsoft’s quality and service is highly questionable, but this is one straight out of the loony bin.

Someone has posted images of what he got inside his Xbox 360 packaging after he bought it on special at a Targer store. The promotion threw in a free $50 Gift Card to anyone who purchased an Xbox 360 together with GTAIV. When he got home and opened his new console up, he found something rather peculiar and just downright bad on Microsoft’s behalf.

What has happened, is that the console itself had been emptied out, and inside the casing was a copy of the book “A Series of Unfortunate Events”. Weird? Yup.

He writes in his post that “The X-Box was fucking gutted. All that’s in there? All the cables and whatnot, the case, and inside that, the book “A Series of Unfortunate Events. #7″ I am sooo going to get an Elite when I take it back tomorrow. I AM PISSED! Pics to come shortly.”

Seriously, what in the hell is going on here? It’s possible that someone had tried to pull a trick by giving back a console with a book to make up for the weight. Im not entirely sure why someone would do that but it does raise a serious amount of questions as to why it made its way back onto the shelf.

I hope he does get the Elite he wanted, even better I hope they chucked in a PS3 and Wii as well because scenarios like this are absolutely and unquestionably unacceptable.

Is it an impossibility that he put it in there himself?

Personally I think he’s full of Sh!t, and I don’t think this has ANYTHING to do with MS, first off why would MS have access to a series of unfortunate events? do they distribute it? personally I think it comes down to the someone taking a console from the store gutting it for it’s components, and then replacing the console(intact) with the book for weight/humour

I’ll seriously fall about laughing if Microsoft/Store announces: “Find ‘A series of unfortunate events in your console’ and stand a chance to win! a full theatre system including; 64″ Full HD TV, 7.2 Warfedale sound system, + NEW XBOX360 ELITE!”

I think someone wants a bit on the side from MS. Same with the girl’s dad who wants to take Nintendo to court since the Wii Fit called her fat.
