You can attend the Call of Duty Championships

In a move that made locals rather displeased, Activision and Major League Gaming excluded South Africa from the Call of Duty Championships this year. The reasons for this decision were still never made public, so we can all assume it’s for whatever reason we choose to believe. However, people can still attend if they so wish, as spectators.

This was one of my biggest issues with the Championships last year. While the streams were excellent and had fantastic shout casting, there was very limited spectatorship. Only players, coaches, press and PR were actually allowed into the venue. This meant that at the finals, the vibe in the hall wasn’t as electric as it could have been. Most people were rooting for a team by default or just for the sake of it. The venue wasn’t designed for spectatorship and the whole event ended up feeling a bit flat. But not this year – now they’re finally listening to feedback from the public and letting spectators join in the fun. For a fee, of course.
