Dreamhack

Two locals will be heading to Sweden in November to play in the DreamHack Winter 2013 invitationals, competing in the Quake Live tournament. Bravado Gaming’s Dimitri “Detrony” Hadjipaschali and Stephen ‘Ph4ntom’ Cloete will be aiming to do South Africa proud, and bring back some prize money.

Both players have won major victories in local eSports competitions, but this will be a wonderful opportunity to gain exposure on the international stage. With a top prize of 100k Swedish Krona (approximately R152k), DreamHack invites only 32 players to take part in the Quake Live tournament in Jönköping, Sweden. Matches will be streamed live, in HD, on Twitch. Players will strive to overthrow the current reigning champion, Orekhov “evil” Sergey of team 102.DeliberateMurder.

Let’s be sure to root for our local boys as they go against the top Quake players in the world. Want to see what you can expect? Check out this Bravado vs Bravado Quake game to see what Detrony can do:

This should be interesting. But the HD stream is probably not needed since Quake is 250bit 😛

my classmate’s half-sister makes $68/hour on the internet. She
has been out of work for 9 months but last month her pay was $18329 just
working on the internet for a few hours. Read more on this site bay35.com

Proof that top local talent can be competitive internationally. 2 spots in a 32 player field is very impressive for a 3rd world country.

Quake does not require a stable internet connection 😛

yah yah. I used to play Q2 with a 250 ping back in the late 90’s. Used to watch some of the LPB’s squirm at LANs because they weren’t nearly as good on an even playing field.

haha! you have obviously never played quake (or quake live) online, or if you have, never on high ranked servers. ;P

I said does not require. Obviously it can play online. Diablo 3 single player requires a stable connection … quake does not. Point i was jokingly making is that our teams playing online based games (Dota2,Sc2 etc etc) generally have a bad time due to lag. Some however argue that lag increases personal response time but I have yet to actually see a massive improvement in game-play from 200ms to 20ms in any single person I know who plays competitive.

Oo Quake is horrible with anything above 50ms. Quake does calculations serverside not clientside.

Anything above 5ms on a local network and you have other issues than Quake.

Then again, QL does not ‘really’ have a lan option.

        Um… wait what?
So if they play on a console they would show their true skill, without auto-aim?
