I don’t know about you guys, but one of the games I’m genuinely keen to try out this year is a little project with all kinds of retro charm attached to it. Ever since Capcom decided to do everything in their power to murder Mega Man and bury it in a shallow ditch just outside of Las Vegas, there’s only been one game to carry the torch of that franchise. And that’s Mighty No. 9. Hell, it’s got Mega Man creator Keiji Inafune behind it. And he’s almost done crafting the game.
“We’re pretty much finished, and from now on we’ll be heading into the porting and promotion phase,” Inafune said in a video post to celebrate the new year with fans and backers. A video which you can watch below, and catch a snippet of gameplay from the man himself:
2015 is pretty much the year of crowdfunded games. After Kickstarter went big in 2013 and 2014, a ton of games are arriving this year which happen to be crowdfunded. And hopefully, they can deliver on promises. Mighty No. 9 took in over $3.8 million over on Kickstarter for Inafune and his studio Comcept, with more funds coming through in other drives that allowed the game to be ported over to 3DS, Linux, Mac, PC, PlayStation 3, PS4, Vita, Wii U, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
It’s due out in April. And it might finally be the one game that gives the kids of today some scars and blisters for their soft, soft hands.

Day one purchase for me. That “soft, soft hands” comment is epic.

looking forward to it, but definitely not as much as when it was first announced. Azure Striker Gunvolt and Shovel Knight helped scratch that itch, so i wouldn’t mind them polishing up the game before releasing it.
