Call of Duty switches allegiances from Xbox to PlayStation

It’s not like this wasn’t expected but it was still surprising to see the complete lack of Call of Duty at Microsoft’s E3 conference and then our suspicions were confirmed early in the morning at the Sony conference when it was announced that the upcoming map packs and DLC will land first on PlayStation platforms.

Microsoft has historically paid a lot of money to be the advertising partner and spiritual home for the Call of Duty franchise and have even hosted a $1 million tournament once a year for the franchise.

The first rumours of this partnership dissolving started late last year with the usual marketing and PR talk not mentioning much about the Xbox platform.

Personally I think this is going to hurt the Xbox platform quite badly but for us in South Africa this will actually end up being a good thing.

We have always been a predominantly PlayStation region and in this generation the matchmaking and online support of the PlayStation 4 has so far been far superior to the Xbox One. I’ve just finished playing the latest Advanced Warfare map packs for review and I have to say it wasn’t the best time as most games were played with a single red dot and huge amount of lag.

I know Call of Duty is the franchise everyone loves to hate but I’m a big fan and enjoy pretty much every year’s version so I’m looking forward to Black Ops 3 being released later this year.

Even more exciting is that there will be a Black Ops 3 Beta later in August and while you can try and win a beta entry the easiest way to get into the beta is to simply pre-order the game now from one of the trusted retailers that you can find right here.

Looking forward to seeing you on the Battlefield

If you like fast multiplayer action budd, you’ll like it. I enjoy CoD primarily just for the pvp and competitive side.

Hey, how should we market the new CoD game. I know, well tell the other console that they can have all the content we are gonna make them pay extra for and not give them on launch day a little but early. Yeah a great milestone in this storied franchise. What will they think of next? paid subscriptions required to play the campaign? atleast PS4 users will get to pay first.
