After almost two decades at Blizzard, Overwatch director Jeff Kaplan has announced that he’ll be leaving the company. Across 19 years, Kaplan’s career saw him him work on games such as Warcraft 3, World of Warcraft, and Titan, the latter getting the axe and instead being transformed into Overwatch. As the director on its continual development, Kaplan became a beloved source of information in the fan community.

BlizzCon may have been a bust in 2020, but one of the oldest names in video games is back with a vengeance in 2021! With convention center doors still closed, the annual pilgrimage to Anaheim is off the table, but Blizzard is instead bringing BlizzCon online this year in the form of…well, BlizzConOnline. The show kicks off on February 19 and wraps up the following day, and will include plenty of panels, cosplay, and reveals.

Echo is the bleeding edge of artificial intelligence, a being who far surpasses run of the mill androids and who was created by a guilt-stricken Dr. Mina Liao during her time with Overwatch when the Omnic uprising shook the planet. As usual, the real question tat Liao had was whether or not Echo would exist as a force for good or as the next evolution of synthetic life that would succeed in wiping out humanity. I think she turned out for the better.
