It took three years to uncover the final mystery of Batman: Arkham City

It’s been three years since Arkham City was released way back on October 18 2011. Three years since Rocksteady expanded their vision for a Batman simulator and opened the gates to create a sequel that was bigger, more ambitious and bolder than the original game, Arkham Asylum. Much like the original game, Arkham City was filled with secrets and challenges. And in another sense of the familiar, it had a secret which no one has found until today.

A few days ago, a new YouTube channel uploaded a clip which was titled “Arkham City Secret?”, which saw the notorious Calendar Man spouting all new dialogue. The channel itself is most likely a creation from Arkham developer Rocksteady , with the clip ending on a cliffhanger. But thanks to some detective work from Batman Arkham Videos, the mystery has been solved. Sort of. Here’s the full video and text:

Well, well, well. And on today of all days.

Do you remember my early work? Flawed, but it showed promise. Just like you. As your skills improved, I perfected mine. Starting with seasons and moving through the weeks, I became stronger. My work more elaborate. Days were the secret Batman. And the end of days is coming.

I was there at your beginning, and I will be there at your end.

To crack the case, BAV discovered that setting your date to December 13 2004 would trigger the special dialogue from the Calendar Man. The date itself, is the day when Rocksteady was founded. The Calendar Man has had plenty of other words of mysterious wisdom that have been uncovered over the months since the game was released. Although right now, I’m more interested in visiting him on every single other day left in the calendar to hear if he has anything else to say.

  1. 365.242 days in a year, I bet that’s the body weight in pounds Calendar Man was gunning for.

Why doesn’t he just set up a CCTV camera that links to his phone and keep the game running 24/7?

Been wanting to go back in Arkham City again. And finish the side missions. This might be just the motivation I need.

Although this isn’t the final mystery. Rocksteady said there are still a few that haven’t been found.

And also, if you want a clue to go along with this clue as to how the series will end, the one CE of Arkham Knight including a “Batman Memorial Statue” pretty much sums that up for us. THANKS, Rocksteady.

What impresses me is that I don’t think my AC has had an update since I originally installed it and there is supposedly even more hidden in the game.
What will Calender Man say when AK is released?
