A new Spec Ops: The Line trailer emerges.. but do we care?

One of the best games I saw at E3 2010 was Spec Ops: The Line but we’re now quickly approaching E3 2012 and the game is yet to be released but hey at least we’ve got this new trailer.

In this trailer we get to see a lot of blood, hostages, shooting, sliding and more hostages. It’s not a bad trailer but it is looking incredibly generic right about now and has left me wondering what we’re looking forward to in this game anymore?

According to the PR’s we receive the game is going to explore the gritty dark side of war and the lines between good and evil, right and wrong etc are going to be increasingly blurred as the game moves along.

However I don’t believe that, granted I expect to be forced to kill an innocent to save others but since it’s going to be a linear story that’s not blurring the lines it’s just taking us on a journey.

In all honesty this game would have most probably have done exceptionally well if it had been released in late 2010 or early 2011 but now it just looks outdated and the small gameplay footage we see in this trailer doesn’t reassure me at all.

So what do you think, does it look exciting and am I being overly harsh on what looks like a new take on the shooting genre or do you feel as jaded as I do about this one?
