Earlier in the week, we had a look at a Star Wars game that will most likely not be released anytime soon. And dammit, I want the damn thing. I’m not saying this just because I go to sleep in boxers that are decorated with the forest moon of Endor (+5 Geek points), but because I’m genuinely keen on a Star Wars game where I’m not a Jedi for once. Here’s another, more video-centric, look at the game that is sitting at the bottom of a Rancor pit right now.
Kotaku has some more concrete evidence of Star Wars: First Assault, an FPS with heavy Call of Duty/ Battlefield leanings that was meant to be a downloadable game on the Xbox Live arcade scene.
Initially meant to be a way to gauge reaction at making a third Battlefront game, the recent acquisition of Star Wars parent company by the Disney Star brand has currently left that project in limbo.
Footage 2 of First Assault shows a sneak peek at the actual gameplay, further reinforcing the idea of the game as an online shooter. Although from the looks of it, it’s unlcear as to whether it would be a third or first-person shooter, or even a marriage of the two. It’s also footage of an older version of the game, which might explain the rather dodgy animations in certain places.
“The trailer contains all in-game footage, including known bugs and incomplete art,” said the Kotaku source. “In the time since it was made, many improvements have been made in performance, completeness, and quality.”
Right now, Disney is busy with their own conclave, to decide what to do with Star Wars and the various properties. But with E3 around the corner, it’s time to chuck a few Ewoks onto the fire and let the world know whether they plan to go forward or not with these games.
