Nintendo Life got to take an extended look at Nintendo’s tablet-enabled Wii you at this year’s CES in Las Vegas. In this video, they demonstrate the console’s ability to generate a real-time, panoramic view of an environment (Tokyo streets, in this case).
While the images on screen are locked to once perspective, moving the Wii U’s controller allows you to look at the scene from all sorts of perspectives – including the road beneath your moving vehicle. It’s some sort of wizardry…but I’m stuck wondering what sort of real applications this might have for gaming. All I can think of right now is some cool, co-operative drive-by shooting or operation of tanks or submarines, or some really intriguing survival horror games – but what else could this really be used for, in a way that adds to the gaming experience and doesn’t come off as gimmicky?
Let’s hear your ideas…
