2012

I think we can all agree that 2011 was a wonderful year for games – probably one of the best in recent memory. It gave us Rayman Origins, Uncharted 3, Skyrim, Skyward Sword and a list of other magical games too long to mention. It looks like 2012 could even be better; with a line up consisting – so far – of Kingdoms of Amalur, Mass Effect 3, Bioshock Infinite, Diablo III, Tomb Raider, Hitman Absolution, Far Cry 3,Max Payne 3,  Dragon’s Dogma, Darksiders 2, Guild Wars 2 and tons more.

We’ll also see the release of Sony’s new handheld, the PlayStation Vita and Nintendo’s next home console, the Wii U. Dammit, my wallet’s crying already.

The ones I’m most keen for are probably Mass Effect, Borderlands 2, Bioshock and Naughty Dog’s mysterious The Last of Us…and probably the Last Guardian if it ever gets completed – but what games are you looking forward to most this year?

Editor. I’m old, grumpy and more than just a little cynical. One day, I found myself in possession of a NES, and a copy of Super Mario Bros 3. It was that game that made me realise that games were more than just toys to idly while away time – they were capable of being masterpieces. I’m here now, looking for more of those masterpieces.
