The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) is currently happening over in the celebrity wedding revolving door, Las Vegas. And at the show, James Bond’s parent studio, MGM, has announced that in honour of the franchise’s 50th anniversary, they will be releasing a special boxset titled Bond 50, that collects all 22 films together on Blu Ray for the first time. And quite frankly, it is a thing of beauty.
They’ve even released a trailer for it:
Now there are few film franchises as close to my heart as the James Bond series. If I walk into a room and there is a Bond film on TV, it becomes physically impossible for me to perform any other action besides sitting down and watching it until the end, irrespective of the fact that I had probably seen that particular film enough times to have ingrained the dialogue into my very DNA.
As luck would have it, I also came across this particular clip just hours before this story broke. It’s a hilarious parody of everybody’s favourite super spy, and is possibly the greatest James Bond intro sequence ever made. Just a NSFW warning though, the lyrics gets pretty salty in place.
(Oh and for those of you keeping track at home, that would now make me an anime, Star Wars and James Bond fanboy.)
