Due, we need to like, start a band or something. I saw this trailer for this film, called like, Not Fade Away, and it had Tony Soprano and catchy guitar riffs…dude.

We can sing about fingers, and why we never see them fing. It’ll be awesome dude.

Well here’s a bit of an odd film. There’s plenty of movies out there charting the most pointless American decade ever, the sixties, and while the bulk of them usually consist of soldiers being murdered in Vietnam to the tune of a Creedence Clearwater Revival song, not too many really focus on the music of that era.

After having spent most of his career writing about New Jersey gangsters, David Chase has obviously created a bond with the actors from The Sopranos  and he’s tapped James Gandolfini to take part in his latest project, Not Fade Away.

It’s the mid-sixties, and music is taking off, especially for bands that like to hammer out soulful lyrics and catchy guitar rhythms, as one trio of wannabe Rolling Stones form a  band, achieve success and face the usual challenges inherent in that career choice. Like drugs, women, internal conflict and promoters with an agenda.

And caught in the middle of it all, is Gandolfini as an exasperated father who just wants to look out for his son. It’s got a US release date of December 21, but expect it sometime in the new year on this side.
