Yes, there's a third Steve Jobs movie on the way – From Funny or Die

You’re only valuable when you’re dead, and besides that being a fact shared by down on their luck artists and writers, it’s also something that hit Steve Jobs hard, post-mortem that is. There’s already two films based on the Apple of his eye founder, one starring Ashton Kutcher that is receiving less than warm praise, and another from Sony on the way…eventually.

And now, Funny or Die is going for the comedic route with their take on the legendary designer, as they’ve roped in Justin Long to be their iSteve Jobs.

According to NYT, this will be the first feature-length film from the people who brought you Don Cheadle: Captain Planet, and Patrick Stewart: Ticket Scalper. With a running time of 60-75 minutes, the film was originally meant to be another short, according to the writers.

“We were kicking around the idea of making a fake Steve Jobs movie trailer, and as often happens in a writers’ room, the joke kind of escalated,” producer Allison Hord explained. With a final 81 page script from Ryan Perezcame, shooting then kicked off, taking place over five days.

As for the potential controversy that the film could possibly create, seeing as how Jobs has only been dead for 2 of the 21 years needed for sensitive matters to become amusing, Hord isn’t phased and thinks that “even the harshest fanboy critics will be able to laugh with us.”

In true Internet fashion, it’s not based on very thorough research — essentially a cursory look at the Steve Jobs Wikipedia page,” director/writer Perez explained. “It’s very silly. But it looks at his whole life.

Plus, the film totally has one other advantage going for it right now. “We might not be the best, but we will be the first,” Perez added. That, and this will most likely be the Steve Jobs biopic that I want to see.
