Warner Bros officially greenlights the MAN OF STEEL sequel!

Now just last week we discussed the trend of studios announcing sequels to movies that haven’t even been released yet. Many of you weren’t fans of this approach, but somehow I get a feeling that you’re about to start singing a different tune as Warner Bros has officially greenlit (or should that be red and bluelit?) a sequel to Zack Snyder’s highly anticipated Superman reboot Man of Steel.

Now by the time you read this, the embargo on Man of Steel reviews would have been lifted for a couple of hours already, and I will be completely shocked if most of them (I won’t say all, because you know there’s always that one guy) are nothing but glowing praise.

It’s this massive wave of positive buzz and the insane amount of hype that has been built up for the film that has apparently prompted WB to preemptively make this decision.

Deadline reports that not only have WB given the go ahead, but they will be fast tracking the next film and will have Snyder back in the director’s chair with the script once again being penned by David S Goyer, who apparently signed a massive 3-film screenwriting deal for Man of Steel, its sequel and Justice League. Yes, Justice League.

And although Chris Nolan’s name is still being attached as producer, it seems that he will be taking even less of a hands-on approach with the sequel (and the facts are already quite iffy on just how much he contributed to Man of Steel pass the initial idea that got this super-ball rolling), making this truly Snyder’s baby.

Now you may recall that not too long ago, when asked about the chances of him taking the reins on Justice League, Snyder got the sequel talk going by saying that “you need to get Superman a little further down the road before you can do a Justice League movie.”

Well, guess what, Zack? We’re now officially going down that road, and at super-speed apparently.
