With Man of Steel earning mega-bucks at the box office, production on a sequel is moving quicker than a speeding bullet. This time, the last son of Krypton will face the dark knight himself. So haw far is pre-production on the sequel then? Really, really far actually.

Batman Superman

“One of the things that has been fun for us,” screenwriter David Goyer said to the Associated Press (via Comic Book Therapy), “is we’re a bit a further along than what I think people realize.” Henry Cavill, Amy Adams, Diane Lane and Laurence Fishburne are all a lock to return, while Ben Affleck will be wearing the bat-cowl this time. And even though the internet reacted badly to that news, Goyer feels that they’ll still be sticking with the actor for the sequel:

From a fan point of view, we’re conscious of that when you’re working on these things, but you can’t let yourself be paralyzed by that. At the end of the day, you still have to create something. And if you try and think, ‘Well what would the fans like?’ then you stop being creative. It’s sort of like, ‘Where does it end?’ You have to write the story that you want to write, and hope that people want to see it.

Fair points to consider. But here’s the most important question: Who’s going to win when the two tussle? After all, even I can’t see a Nolanverse Batman surviving more than a few pico-seconds against this version of the Man of Steel.

“Most comic book purists would say Batman,” Nolan said, “because he is the ultimate strategist. Even though it makes no sense whatsoever. If Superman just flicked his finger, Batman would be done for.”

Batman vs Superman currently has a release date of  July 2015, and will see Zack SNyder directing once again.
