SCREAM 5 will end the franchise

Scream (1)

Much like the killers that they star, horror movie franchises are pretty hard to kill. Take Scream for example. It’s been skewering the conventions of horror movies for years now, with a fourth film seemingly wrapping things up. But there’s a potential cash cow there. And expect the fifth film to really finish things off for good this time. No seriously. I’m not joking. STOP LAUGHING!

Speaking at a master class at the Zurich Film Festival, producer Harvey Weinstein explained that he was still looking to get a  fifth Scream movie made. The only problem though, was his brother Bob over at Dimension Films. “Everyone lived in Scream 4,” Weinstein said, hinting that these characters needed to meet a more grisly end.

I’m begging him to do the movie and just end it. We’ve milked that cow.

Those udders haven’t run dry yet though. A Scream TV series is still in development, with a pilot on the way. But the Weinsteins have good reason to make another Scream flick, even it does end the franchise long enough for a remake to surface 20 years later. 100 million good reasons in fact, judging by how well Scream 4 did when it was released.

  1. Hollywood, If you are reading this… When are you going to make a “Scream/The Grudge/Final Destination/Event Horizon” type horror? ie: Half mortal, half malevolent spirit that has the sense of humour of Death/Fate and is set on the most creepiest spaceship that is orbiting Uranus (okay, okay its Neptune, but my way is funnier, coz imagine all those innocent people getting violated near Uranus…)

Scream is done and dusted… Tv series could be good if thought out well enough, but another movie. I see an epic fail in the near future.
