There’s simply no doubt as to what was the biggest movie released this past weekend. Simply put, right now Alfonso Cuaron’s Gravity, is the heavy, heavy favourite as the best film of 2013. I thought so, Lourens thought so, and even Noelle thought so. But what did you guys think? Did you also gawk at the technical wizardry, nerve-janglin tension and compelling performances? Or in your opinion, does Gravity suck?

IMMERSION IN THE HIGHEST PEDIGREE
The most intense 90 minutes I have ever had while watching a film. It was literally breathtaking. The visuals were so darn good that I forgot the the film was CGI.
Uncanny Vally was down in the Grand Canyon somewhere. I cannot imagine the bar being lifted higher than this MASTERPIECE.
I am a traditionalist. I hate 3d and all the little gimmicks that they are trying to do to bring in the punters. BUT DARN, this and AVATAR are the only films that should ever be in 3D.
You know you have seen something special when at the end of the film you realise that you have been staring past the credits for 5 minutes. I just sat there in a daze, thinking about the fact that this was the first time in my life where THE VISUALS coupled with the amazing 7.1 sound TOTALLY OPENED up my adrenal glands for the longest period ever.
I am going back again this Saturday. I wish we had IMAX.

It was the best bloody movie I have ever seen. I had tears in my eyes when she was re-entering. Leaving the cinema with OVG I could barely walk. We were only able to talk about it after knocking back 5 beers, and then we couldn’t find the right words.

Gonna go this weekend… Okay Now I wanna ask this.. I haven’t seen Avatar in 3d but seen a few 3d movies, Men in black 3, Iron man, Amazing Spider ect. NONE were looked good in 3D was a waste. Only kiddie movies have used 3D well. So Does this really make use of it, or is the story what made it good?

Well, it was always going to be 3D so it is worth it. Subtle, but powerful. Most people don’t actually film in 3D.

That final shot, of her tottering upright on that beach, was just incredible. And was I the only person who was swearing inside going “Oh f*ck you, Alfonso, don’t tell me she’s gone through all of that just to drown on f*cking Earth?!!!”
