Ben Affleck talks BATMAN VS SUPERMAN

Okay guys, put down the illogical fanboy rage, and step away from the Ben Affleck posters. After all, he’s just a man. But with Zack Snyder behind him, he could become more than that. He could become a symbol, everlasting and incorruptible. He could be the Batman! Even if he Affleck doesn’t believe it himself.

Talking to 411mania, when asked about his thoughts on being chosen to wear the mantle of the bat, Affleck wasn’t exactly sold on the concept of Snyder choosing him for the role either. But he did warm up to it eventually:

Initially I was reluctant as I felt I didn’t fit the traditional mold but once Zack showed me the concept, and that it would be both different from the great movies that Chris and Christian made but still in keeping with tradition I was excited. Doing something different and new is always tricky and part of the thrill and the risk is that initially it confounds expectations. The truth is, it’s the movie and the execution of it is what all the actors depend on and I believe in Zack’s vision.

As for the talk of this Batman being tired and wearing of beating criminals senseless each and every night, Affleck says that this will ring true for his portrayal. Which might have a surprise or two in store as well:

Yes, Kevin described it aptly. I don’t want to go further because I want to be able to capitalize on what is new about this iteration by having it be a surprise to the audience.

Filming for Batman vs Superman kinda begun a couple of days ago, with Gotham facing Metropolis in a game of football. The one that is like rugby, except it isn’t played by men. I’m looking forward to seeing Affleck wear the cowl. After all, he can’t be worse than George Clooney, now can he?

  1. The surprise will be Robin or Nightwing. Who’s with me?

I am indifferent to who is under the cape. For once the cape is donned, there is only the Bat. And the Bat is more than just a man. The Bat is a symbol. The Bat IS justice. The Bat IS the night. The Bat is.. EXPLOSIONS.

With Baffleck, those will be explosions of bunnies, rainbows, and everything non-manly you can imagine.

      Although, his beard works.

Hahaha, I just pictured the rainbow coloured bat mobile. With rainbows shooting out the exhaust instead of flames. Hahahaha.

Its not Ben Affleck playing Batman that worries me but the whole concept of Batman vs Superman its a horrible concept for a major motion picture and its bound to polarize people worse than Snyder’s Watchmen… Just like Watchmen you can get it work in a graphic novel or animated film but not in live action.

Could not agree more. Batman puts on his belt of gadgets and superman melts him with is lazer vision, or picks him put and flies him into space, or throws him into space, or throws batman into a building, or throws batman with a building, or punches a whole threw him, or he just blows him over. Not that kind of blow the wind kind with his strong wind blowing breath.

I disagree. This has happened, and happened very well, multiple times in the comics. Also, Zack Snyder’s Watchmen was amazing. Incredible! Beyond amazing.

I really enjoyed Watchmen and I agree it has worked in comics but not for a motion picture and certainly not after what Nolan did with Batman… Lol to quote the Joker “You’ve change things, for good.”
