If you’re experiencing some déjà vu right now, I don’t blame you. It looks like we’re at the start of a trend about films featuring doppelgangers. Instead of doubling up on Jesse Eisenberg, now we’re treated to two times your daily recommended dosage of Jake Gyllenhaal in Enemy.

Directed by Denis Villeneuve, Enemy stars Jake Gyllenhaal and his impressive facial hair as Adam, a quiet university lecturer who stumbles across an actor who looks exactly like him. Adam sets out to find his double, setting events in motion that consume them both in a dangerous fight for survival.

“Enemy” tells the story of a university lecturer named Adam (Gyllenhaal) who is nearing the end of a relationship with his girlfriend Mary (Laurent). One night, while watching a film, Adam spots a minor actor who looks just like him. Consumed by the desire to meet his double, Adam tracks down Anthony, an actor living with his pregnant wife Helen (Gadon) and engages him in a complex and dangerous struggle. The film is a haunting and provocative psychosexual thriller about duality and identity, where in the end only one man will survive.

If there’s one thing I like more than Jake Gyllenhaal, it’s TWO Jake Gyllenhaals. Consider me sold.

Co-starring Sarah Gadon, Melanie Laurent and Isabella Rossellini, Enemy is slated for a limited release in the States on March 14.

And Hollywood strikes again… Isn’t there a Jesse Eisenberg movie in which he has a twin as well? Hate it when the Armageddon/Deep Impact Syndrome rears it’s head, time after time (You can sing that last bit)

Apologies, I watched the trailer and made a comment without reading the write-up (walk of shame)

*Gasp* and I spent all my time putting together all these pretty words, just for you to ignore them? Don’t make me sad 🙁

Ok, you’ve redeemed yourself. But next time I’ll be watching, and there may or may not be a pop-quiz afterward.
