Midweek Mouth-Off – Godzilla, what did you think?

By now, you’ve all had a chance to go and see Godzilla. Probably. The film is magnificent according to Kervyn’s review, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t have a flaw or two. Whether it be Aaron Taylor Johnson being a bland everyman balanced next to the sheer awesome and destructive force of Godzilla himself, the movie sometimes teetered on being ridiculous.

But that’s just our opinion really, and overall, we all walked out of the cinema with giddy smiles on our faces after the film was done and dusted. What about you though? Was it the return of the king that you hoped for? Did you miss seeing Matthew Broderick and Jean Reno from the 1998 version? Tell us below!

  1. Loved the Godzilla bits, enjoyed the movie, but the main plot would have made Roland Emmerich blush it was so generic. Less [insert disaster here] is heading for [insert city] and my family is there, more actual story with regards to the actual monsters!

Ken Watanabe’s story was much more interesting that Ford.

I loved Godzilla and the other monsters, but if they’d just not killed off the father for his (boring, generic, kinda-pointless) son’s story, it could have been so much better.

This is my biggest complaint about the movie really (which I couldn’t elaborate on in my review for fear of spoilers). Cranston is the emotional core of the film the entire time right up until his death, and when he’s gone, we only have Vanilla Face McBlandGuy and his series of unfortunate coincidences.

i really enjoy it, Godzilla was really awesome, would love to have seen more of the battles with the monsters. Having Quicksilver & Scarlett Witch in the movie added that human effect…. 🙂

I found the trailer more entertaining then the movie. I’m glad they kept most of the movie a secret though. Would have been even better if the movie was good
