I can’t believe it’s already been fourteen years since we followed the antics of Zoolander in a movie that has become a cult classic. We can thank Justin Theroux for his writing contributions for that and for the totally awesome (if you haven’t seen it, you’ve gone full retard) Tropic Thunder. So where is Zoolander 2 you might ask? Well way back in 2011 Ben Stiller said it was up to Paramount to decide and since then we’ve heard little. Bad Paramount! Well that has changed. In an interview with Vulture, Theroux (who also starred in Zoolander as the crazy DJ) said:
“Yeah, we’ve got a script for the sequel, and we’ve just been in talks again. We’re trying to sharpen it and hone it and, actually, I don’t want to jinx anything, but it looks like it actually might be starting to get up and running.”
That is some great news for Zoolander fans (like me). Theroux, who has recently finished wrapping up the first season of The Leftovers in which he stars, is not sure though whether he will direct this sequel saying that it really depends on what happens with The Leftovers: “If it gets picked up, then I don’t think I’ll have the time to do it. So it’ll probably get handed to Ben, which would be awesome.”
Ben Stiller has more than proven himself in the director’s chair with the likes of Tropic Thunder and The Cable Guy, and it would be a great addition to his CV which currently is bursting at the seams with night-time expeditions at various museums. What I would very much like is a Tropic Thunder Mark Deux, but I doubt that will ever happen.

It appears that when we hired Rince, his CV actually contained a forged diploma from the Derek Zoolander Center For Children Who Can’t Read Good And Wanna Learn To Do Other Stuff Good Too. He is in fact yet to qualify for the “Other Stuff” part, which I am assuming includes counting higher than 5.

I’d love a Zoolander sequel, but Stiller tends to fold when he tries too hard.
