THE CROW is back to square one again as Luke Evans exits the film

When it comes to films, there are few franchises as adaptable to world changing around it as The Crow. It’s pretty much a simple formula, as revenge, love and second chances can be remixed an infinite amount of times. And it feels like the current reboot of The Crow has been in infinite development for a while now. But with rising star Luke Evans on board in the lead role, the project finally felt like it was moving forward. Well, The Crow just crawled back into the grave, as Evans has departed the film.

According to The Wrap, Evans has officially exited The Crow in order to pursue other projects. After original director F. Javier Gutierrez was attached to the flick, production delays crept in, forcing Evans to find some other work in Tinsel town. It’s a damn shame, because I quite dug his recent performances in The Hobbit and Dracula Untold. And I’d have liked to have seen his Eric Draven in action.

Still, the film at least has current director Corin Hardy attached to it, who will most likely start scouting for a replacement lead actor once he wraps on post-production of his debut movie The Hallow. That should give us something to crow about then.

Leave it alone. Doesn’t need a remake.
