We’re still waiting to see (i.e. praying to all the gods we know) whether the CW comes to the rescue of the cancelled Constantine, not just because I want the Matt Ryan led series to keep going, but because the US TV network has had a solid run lately when it comes to comic book shows that could make it a great fit. That solidity is due to the current awesomeness of Arrow and The Flash, two great shows that have now spawned another.
We first heard about the Arrow/The Flash spinoff a while back, but knew very little of what it was about other than it’s team of both heroes and villains sounded really eclectic. But now the show has finally been unveiled officially, which means that we can at last stop referring to it as “the Arrow/The Flash spinoff”. The new show will be titled Legends of Tomorrow, as suspected, will indeed be focused around the time-travelling comic book character Rip Hunter. Here’s the full synopsis:
“When heroes alone are not enough … the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat — one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?”
As previously reported, Doctor Who alum Arthur Darvill will be playing Hunter, and he will be joined by fellow newcomers Ciara Renee as Kendra Saunders aka Hawkgirl and Franz Drameh as an unknown character (prevailing fan theory is that he’s the second Flash, Wally West). They will be teaming up though with some very familiar -if slightly unexpected – faces though, as The Flash‘s Wentworth Miller, Dominic Purcell and Victor Garber will be reprising their respective roles as the villainous Leonard Snart aka Captain Cold and Mick Rory aka Heat Wave, and Dr Martin Stein aka one half of the hero Firestorm.
From Arrow‘s side Brandon Routh will be reprising his role as Ray Palmer aka The Atom, while Catiy Lotz will be playing… Well, we actually have no idea who/what she’ll be playing, seeing as [SPOILER ALERT] her character Sara Lance aka the Canary was killed early in the latest season of Arrow. Interesting.
The Arrow and The Flash creative team of Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, Andrew Kreisberg and Sarah Schechter will be exec producing. There’s no official word yet on when Legends of Tomorrow will debut, but it expected to appear early 2016.

It does sound like a sci-fi classic. “Legends of Tomorrow! Starring Arthur Darvill as the time traveller Rip Hunter.” It might as well be Rip Hunter in the 25th Century!

Watch Flash 8 then Arrow 8 and then Flash 18 before Arrow 18 because spoilers. It probably makes more sense to watch Flash then alternate to Arrow for each episode.

Thanks, I remember the one Flash Episode spoiled 3 major things for me in Arrow (was up to date with Flash but not Arrow)

Some leaked set pics imply that it definitely isn’t flashbacks, and may actually be something else entirely.

I’m all for ‘something different’. I’d laugh if she’s the daughter of the Laurel way in the future, would be cool though, or something different entirely.
