It’s that time of the year when many of our favourite shows are wrapping up their seasons and going on a well-deserved break, which means we’re only a few weeks away from the premieres of new shows.

And one of those new shows is Showtime’s Roadies – the Cameron Crowe-created comedy-drama that follows a group of roadies touring the US with a rock band and setting up their concert venues, or as the official plot synopsis has it:

Roadies is an insider’s look at the reckless, romantic, funny and often poignant lives of a committed group of “roadies” who live for music and the de facto family they’ve formed along the way. The music-infused ensemble comedy series chronicles the rock world through the eyes of music’s unsung heroes and puts the spotlight on the backstage workers who put the show on the road while touring the United States for a successful arena-level band.

I wasn’t that impressed with the first trailer for the show, if I remember correctly I used the word “cheesy”. However this trailer loses some of the cheese and dials up the humour, and the show looks all the better for it. What do you think?

Roadies is set to air from 26 June. It stars Carla Gugino, Luke Wilson, Imogen Poots, Luiz Guzmán, Rafe Spall, Ron White, Peter Cambor, Keisha Castle-Hughes, Branscombe Richmond and Machine Gun Kelly.

  1. Coming from a true roadie, I’ve spent my entire adult life in the touring business and this show is no representation of what we do, how we do it!! Not even close! So please don’t advertise that it is.
Just call it drama for TV but your claims that this is how we roll is extremely off base.
