The Wall, not to be confused with the Pink Floyd masterpiece of the same name, is the debut movie from Amazon Studios that’s directed by Doug Liman (Edge of Tomorrow, The Bourne Identity). Starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass, Avengers: Age of Ultron) and John Cena (The Champ is nowhere to be seen!), The Wall follows the story of an American sniper team struggling to survive after being pinned down by an enemy sniper.
The official plot synopsis is as follows:
An American sharpshooter engages in a deadly game of cat and mouse with an Iraqi sniper, who has him pinned behind a small chunk of concrete.
I have a soft spot for war movies, and this one doesn’t look too bad. It’s clearly tightly contained and slow paced – which means it’ll rely very heavily on the performances on its actors to keep one engaged. Fortunately Taylor-Johnson is a good one, although that accent isn’t doing him any favours, and this is the type of role that suits John Cena to a brightly-coloured tee.
What do you think?
The Wall is due for release in the US on 10 March 2017. Directed by Doug Liman, with the story by Dwain Worrell, it stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, John Cena and Laith Nakli.
