It appears that eSports is really taking off in South Africa. The 2013 Winter Leg registrations have closed and the Telkom Do Gaming League (DGL) has seen record number of teams and players across a variety of games.
Starcraft 2 saw huge improvements over the Summer Leg, pulling in 205 players. The 2v2 also had good turnout with 42 teams. Yet Dota 2 was the real record breaker
In the time of registrations, the DGL managed to get 151 teams to register for the Dota 2 DGL Winter Leg which shows why the game is so popular. This marks quite an achievement for both Dota 2 and the Telkom DGL as it’s easily the biggest Dota 2 competition hosted in South Africa and breaks the previous DGL record of 117 teams registered (for the Summer Leg this year).
Numbers have grown since the Summer Leg, showing that competitive gaming is growing in South Africa… and that gamers don’t mind the cold! Looking forward to some excellent gameplay in the upcoming Winter Leg. For the full details on numbers of entries across the various games, you can read the article here.
Will you be competing in or following the Winter Leg of the DGL? When the games start on 4 June, it will be interesting to see who shows promise – before we know it, the end of the year will be upon us, bringing with it the Do Gaming Championships (DGC)! Great to see so much competition for the top spot.

I don’t have near enough talent for this game unfortunately. Or the time to really become good lol.

Sorry Off Topic but still fresh. This is the Kinect T&Cs considering Microsoft has already been a found spying on Skype.
“If you accept the agreement, you expressly authorize and consent to us
accessing or disclosing information about you, including the content of
your communications… on a good faith belief that such access or
disclosure is necessary to protect the personal safety of Microsoft
employees, customers, or the public.”
OK, is that clear enough for ya? When you use the Kinect system, you
agree to allow Microsoft (and any branch of law enforcement or
government they care to share information with) to use your Kinect
system to spy on you. Maybe run that facial recognition software to
check you out, listen to your conversations, and keep track of who you
are communicating with.
You choose.

The same T&C’s apply to every other online social network or email service. Those clauses are in there as such to keep baddies away from doing their dodgy business on whichever online service they sign up for
But let’s all jump on the RAGE bandwagon. That’s the cool thing to do now right? And even if you chose to not buy an XBO, your cousin will and his kinect will be watching you, and so will the Kinect from your neighbours house and the one in every single retailer…..

True. And while we’re at it post a random rant about the Xbox on an article about the DGL, because you know, it just makes sense.
