Mass Effect 2 was – aside from some playful banter betwixt joker and Edi - largely dark and ominous in tone. According to BioWare’s Casey Hudson in an interview with OXM, the third game in the series may just do a “Return of the Jedi,†bringing a little more light-heartedness.
"The second story in a trilogy is where you traditionally end up in a fairly dark place. The third story is where you try and bring some fun and lightness back into it," said Hudson.
"One thing we tried to do with Mass Effect 2 was as well as bringing in the more mature stuff, we also tried to bring in a lot more humor so that we can go to these places without making it an overbearing experience. I think we have a lot more fun this time through characters like Joker and EDI."
Continuing, he says that "Mass Effect 3 is going to be the epic conclusion … so, a lot more darkness but also a lot more humor."
So there you go. ME3 is going to be funnier. Let’s just hope they don’t try too hard – and there are no Ewoks or characters like Jar-Jar Binks.

I don’t know why they’d do that. ME1 and ME2 did pretty well without much humour.

🙁 Dear god no!
ME always struck me as a decent space opera, so if we’re getting the token Martin Lawrence-type character, who’s supposed to bring the slapstick, then ME3 can quite frankly go f**** itself.
