Thanks to some news coming out of Kotaku this morning and my awesome photoshopping skills we can present to you the upcoming PSP2.
Basically it’s a PSP with dual analogue sticks and a larger screen, which could make it the best handheld on the market.
Other important aspects that have come out are as follows
- No more UMD – Flash discs instead
- 1 Gb RAM (Xbox 360 has 512Mb)
- Larger HD screen
- Touch pad on the back of the device
- Rival processing power to the Xbox 360
Sony have yet to admit that the PSP2 is in development at the moment but the evidence is building up and it’s only a matter of time before the official announcement is made.
My guess is that they won’t say a word until after the silly season and so we’ll either here something formal in February/March or they are going to hold out and show it off first at E3 2011.

Im sure others will disagree with me but as far as im concerned the only three things PSP2 need are two analogue sticks, 3G and better graphics. I could care less about the touch screens and other features. Thw West will only accept PSP2 if they can play their twein stick shooters.
As for all the rumours about PSP2 its hard to believe anything from anyone. Yesterday we had a PSP phone, the week before it had 3D etc.

Thats the usual Sony hate i love to see. Lets wait and see actual specs before we start bashing. We wouldnt want to look stupid now would we?

Unless, its released to the journos or shown at a gaming convention, all of this is merely meaningless.

AC!D, take those exact same specs in the article and put them in a MS, Apple or HTC device and we’d have all said the same thing. Every one of your comments seem to be about Sony-ness. If someone came onto this site and said GT5 looks rubbish, most of us would think “Ah, this gentleman finds the idea of GT5 unsatisfactory”, whereas you always seem to jump to “OMGEZ XBOT FANBOI STFU!”
It’s painful to read. Absolutely painful.

The only thing that worries me is the price
If it comes with a huge price tag it will happen the same thing as with the ps3. the first years will be quite awful

Sounds like there’s some confusion whether Xbox 360 has sold 42 million or 44.5 million thus far.

But yeah, 400K units, that’s incredible given that not so long ago, xbox 360 was leading by 8 million.

It would be really difficult for the PSP2 “to be more powerful than the Xbox 360” , considering that the PSP2 will need a lot of power (battery-wise), which isn’t good for a handheld…

@lans
Yes, but many confirmed purchases of the PS3 in it’s early days was due to the Blu-Ray player (MS failed with the HD-DVD as we all know).
I’m not bashing the PS3 at all I’m just saying it’s the only updatable Blu-Ray player that has now got support for 3D (Something I was aware of on my purchase) and smart consumers would of been aware that the PS3 is one of the best Blu-Ray players around (Obviously)
Personally I’m glad it’s a tight race…It serves both Sony and Microsoft right for releasing absolute crap hardware really… I own both and even though I admit I use my Xbox more (I prefer the multiplayer on Live) but I wouldn’t trade my PS3 for anything because there are some TRUE GEMS of games on there every once in a while plus the blu-ray player is just wow for HD cinema experiences.
