Homefront, THQ’s near-future first person shooter focuses on the speculative unrest caused by Korean Invasion of US soil, one of a few games that brings war home. Not for us of course, safe on the southernmost tip of Africa. It’s generating quite a bit of buzz, primarily for its daring, uneasy setting, but also because it’s real, gritty and has a weighty narrative penned by Screenwriter John Milius, the mind behind feature films Red Dawn and Apocalypse Now.
The game also boasts an extensive 32 player, vehicle-based multiplayer that acts as a prequel to the single player game. With the flak that Call of Duty’s been getting lately – most notably with regards to the PC and Ps3 versions, could this be the game that usurps COD as champ? We’ll have to see in march, when the game hits retail
