If you’ve ever been a fan of absurd comedy and general breaking of the fourth wall antics, then you’re most likely the kind of fellow who grew up watching Monty Python’s Flying Circus. That legendary comedy group managed to create something magical in 1969. A TV series, several films later and the death of group member Graham Chapman essentially put the group to rest, barring an odd anniversary here and there. But the lads are back together again, for one final performance.
They’re practising their silly walks, expecting the Spanish Inquisition and always looking on the bright side of life … Monty Python are back. Their show at the O2 arena promises ‘comedy, music and a tiny bit of ancient sex’. Watch classic clips from the TV series and hear what the Pythons are planning for their stage reunion in this exclusive trailer for the cinema broadcast of their show Monty Python Live (Mostly)
Having finally sold out as Terry Gilliam put it, the rest of the group (Michael Palin, Terry Jones, Eric Idle, the remainder of Graham Chapman’s ashes and John Cleese) will be putting on one last show at the 02 Arena in July. That show will be broadcast live around the world, to 1500 locations. And yes, one of those locations is in good ol’ South Africa. Expect details closer to the time, or we’ll do a rather silly walk to our local cinema and smack the staff with halibut until our demands for spam-based comedy is met.
